Pre-monsoon activity is active in several states across India, with rainfall reported in 9 states, including Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. In Madhya Pradesh, heavy rainfall occurred on Saturday evening in Bhopal and 4 other districts, causing damage such as fallen trees and electricity poles.
In Uttar Pradesh, storms and lightning incidents led to 5 deaths. Two individuals lost their lives due to lightning strikes in Unnao and Ghazipur. In Kasganj, a house roof collapse caused by the storm resulted in the deaths of a husband, wife, and their daughter.
Rajasthan also experienced rainfall, with Jaipur and other districts affected. In Churu district, a house wall collapsed due to storms and rain, trapping 4 family members under the debris. Local residents immediately began rescue operations, and the trapped individuals were taken to the hospital.
The monsoon has entered parts of Jharkhand and Odisha and is currently at Chhattisgarh's border. It is expected to reach Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh within the next 3 days. Since its arrival in Kerala on June 4, the monsoon has spread to 19 states in 9 days.
The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for storms and rainfall in 9 districts of Rajasthan on Sunday. In addition, temperatures exceeding 40°C were recorded in several cities across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh on Friday.
