Hamirpur stenographer rescued after suicide attempt from bridge

A government stenographer in Hamirpur attempted suicide by jumping into the Yamuna River from the bridge near the district headquarters on Monday. The individual, employed as the stenographer for the Circle Officer (CO) Sadar, was rescued by local boatmen and divers and rushed to the district hospital in critical condition.

According to preliminary reports, the stenographer was under severe mental stress due to illness, which likely led to the suicide attempt. The swift action of rescuers ensured his survival, and doctors have confirmed that his condition is now stable and out of danger after medical treatment.

Senior officials, including the Additional Superintendent of Police, CO City, and Sadar SDM, reached the hospital to oversee the situation and ensure proper care for the individual. Speaking about the incident, CO City Yashpal Singh stated that the matter is being thoroughly investigated, and efforts are being made to provide the necessary support to the individual.

The incident has raised concerns about mental health issues among government employees, with many pointing to the need for better support systems and counseling services. Authorities are expected to look into the circumstances leading to the incident and take appropriate measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
