Heavy Rain Forces School Closures in Chikkamagaluru District

Heavy rainfall across Karnataka's Chikkamagaluru district has led to the closure of primary schools and anganwadi centres in Sringeri, Koppa, and Balehonnur hobli of N.R. Pura taluk on August 1. The decision was announced by the respective taluk tahsildars, citing safety concerns for students and staff amid the ongoing weather conditions.

The holiday order applies to all government, aided, and unaided primary educational institutions in the affected areas. School authorities have been instructed to compensate for the missed day by conducting full-day classes on a subsequent holiday or Saturday. This directive aims to ensure that students do not face academic setbacks due to the closure.

Chikkamagaluru district has been experiencing consistent moderate to heavy rainfall over the past few days, disrupting daily life in several regions. The decision to shut down schools is part of precautionary measures taken to safeguard children and minimize inconvenience caused by the adverse weather.
