5 Dead in UP Due to Storms; Alerts Issued for 21 Cities, Rain Forecast in Bihar

pre-monsoon Pre-monsoon activity in Uttar Pradesh has resulted in 5 fatalities due to storm-related incidents over the past 24 hours. In Unnao and Ghazipur, lightning strikes claimed the lives of two farmers. Meanwhile, in Kasganj, a house collapse during a storm led to the deaths of a husband, wife, and their daughter. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued storm alerts for 21 cities in the state, with wind speeds expected to reach 60-70 km/h.

Delhi experienced a temperature drop of 1.4°C, with Sunday's maximum temperature recorded at 38.5°C. The IMD has also issued alerts for strong winds and rain in the city during the afternoon and evening.

In Rajasthan, eastern districts have been experiencing storms and rain over the past 24 hours. Rainfall is expected to continue in Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Kota, and Jodhpur for the next four days. Phalodi recorded the highest temperature in the state at 42.8°C, while Chittorgarh received the highest rainfall at 23 mm.

Bihar is under a yellow alert for storms in 12 districts, with winds expected to reach 60 km/h and a risk of lightning strikes. Himachal Pradesh's higher altitudes are also under a yellow alert for dust storms and rain starting 15 June.

The IMD forecasts rainfall in several regions of northwest India, including Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, from 14 to 19 June. Rain is also expected in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, and western Uttar Pradesh until 19 June, with intermittent rainfall in eastern Uttar Pradesh on 14, 18, and 19 June.
