Kerala government nominates MLAs to KTU Syndicate and Board of Governors
Kerala government nominates MLAs to KTU Syndicate and Board of Governors, enhancing governance and representation in the university.
The Kerala government has nominated new members to the Syndicate and Board of Governors (BoG) of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), paving the way for the reconstitution of these key statutory bodies. The move comes after representatives from the recently elected Kerala Legislative Assembly were chosen for the university’s governing panels.
Abid Hussain Thangal and Jyothikumar Chamakkala have been named as members of the Syndicate. Their nominations were drawn from the five MLAs who were elected to KTU’s Board of Governors. Alongside them, Ramya Haridas, Uma Thomas, and K.V. Sumesh have also been elected to the BoG, completing the list of legislative representatives.
This development is significant as the Syndicate and BoG play crucial roles in the administration and decision-making processes of the university. The reconstitution is expected to bring fresh perspectives and legislative insights into the functioning of KTU, which is a leading institution for engineering and technology education in Kerala.
The nominations reflect the state government’s efforts to ensure active participation of lawmakers in educational governance, aligning with Kerala’s broader focus on improving higher education. With the inclusion of MLAs, the university’s leadership is likely to benefit from enhanced collaboration between academia and policymakers.
KTU, named after former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, has been at the forefront of technological education in the state. The reconstituted Syndicate and BoG are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the university’s future initiatives and addressing challenges in the sector.
