India to Host Global Wind Day 2026 Conference in Goa on June 15

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will organize the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference in Goa on June 15, focusing on accelerating India's wind energy ambitions. The event, themed "Wind Energy: From Ambition to Acceleration," will be led by Union Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi and attended by senior officials, state representatives, and industry leaders.

India, currently the world's fourth-largest wind power market, aims to achieve 100 GW of wind energy capacity by 2030 and 155 GW by 2035. This aligns with the nation's broader goal of 500 GW non-fossil energy capacity and net-zero emissions by 2070. Shri Joshi emphasized that the record addition of 6.1 GW in 2025-26 showcases the potential of strong policy and industry collaboration.

The conference will address critical priorities for India's wind energy sector, including grid readiness, domestic manufacturing competitiveness, export opportunities, and advancements in forecasting technologies. Knowledge papers, such as "Elevating India's Wind Turbine Exports for Global Markets," will be unveiled to highlight India's potential as a global hub for wind turbine manufacturing.

Plenary sessions and panel discussions will bring together stakeholders from government, regulatory bodies, developers, and manufacturers to identify actionable measures for accelerating deployment and strengthening domestic capabilities. Secretary MNRE, Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, will also participate in the event.

Global Wind Day 2026 is expected to serve as a milestone in shaping India's roadmap for sustained wind energy growth and clean energy ambitions, positioning the country as a leader in renewable energy development globally.
