Odisha Approves ₹76,612 Crore-Worth Projects, Set to Create Over 50,000 Jobs

Odisha's High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) has approved 20 major industrial projects with a total investment of ₹76,611.86 crore. These projects are expected to generate 50,517 employment opportunities across nine districts in the state. The decision was made during the 45th HLCA meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on June 17, 2026.

The approved projects span diverse sectors, including gemstone manufacturing, green energy equipment, aerospace and defence, rare earth minerals-based value-added products, pharmaceuticals, mechanical and electrical capital goods, chemicals, and steel. This aligns with Odisha's focus on progressive policies, robust infrastructure, and ease of doing business to drive industrial diversification and inclusive economic growth.

Among the major investments, Rashmi Metallurgical Industry Private Limited plans to set up a four million tonne per annum integrated steel plant in Jajpur, which is expected to create 11,000 jobs. Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited will invest ₹7,580 crore to establish a one MTPA steel plant in Sambalpur. Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited will set up an ingot and wafers unit along with a Solar PV Cell Manufacturing Unit in Ganjam, with an investment of ₹10,000 crore, generating 5,000 employment opportunities.

In the renewable energy sector, Rajapuspa Renova LLP has received approval for a pumped storage hydro-power plant in Malkangiri, involving an investment of ₹5,220 crore. Additionally, Kira Diam LLP will establish a lab-grown diamond manufacturing unit in Khordha district with an estimated investment of ₹7,000 crore. Similar diamond-related projects proposed by Anjali Labtech Limited and Grow Magnificent Private Limited bring the combined investment in this sector to ₹9,817.50 crore, creating 8,100 jobs.

The announcement comes ahead of visits by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Odisha later this week, marking the completion of two years of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.
