Tata Curvv Series X Update Brings Equipment Upgrades, Streamlined Range Starting ₹10 Lakh

Tata Motors has refreshed its coupe-SUV offering with the Curvv Series X, introducing a revised variant structure and enhanced standard equipment across lower and mid-tier trims to revive slowing sales momentum.

Slimmer Lineup, Revised Nomenclature

The carmaker has consolidated the Curvv range from eight to six variants, while discontinuing the manual transmission option for the T-GDI turbo-petrol engine. Each variant now carries an 'X' suffix in its name as part of the updated nomenclature. The rationalisation comes with slight price increases, though Tata has compensated by loading base and mid-spec models with significantly more features than the outgoing version. Buyers can also opt for the #DARK Edition with blacked-out styling elements from the Pure X Plus variant upward for an additional ₹25,000.

Enhanced Standard Equipment

The entry-level Pure X trim now includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, a six-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control and drive modes. The base variant also receives 17-inch steel wheels with stylised 'hyperstyle' covers, an upgrade from the previous 16-inch units without covers.

The Creative X Plus variant adds a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, previously unavailable at this level, along with ventilated front seats, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps. The top Accomplished X Plus specification includes a powered tailgate, six-way power-adjustable driver seat, connected car technology, auto-dimming interior rearview mirror and a larger 12.3-inch digital driver's display.

Subtle Interior Revisions

While the exterior design remains unchanged, the cabin receives Oyster White leatherette seat upholstery from the Pure X Plus variant onward, creating a brighter ambience. Rear passengers benefit from 10mm of additional legroom thanks to scooped-out front seatbacks, while the rear bench itself has been repositioned 20mm rearward and 10mm lower.

Safety and Powertrains Unchanged

The Curvv Series X retains its five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating and continues with six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold control and ISOFIX anchors as standard. Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems remain exclusive to the top variant.

Powertrain options carry over unchanged: two turbo-petrol engines and one diesel, though the T-GDI unit now pairs solely with a dual-clutch automatic transmission. The colour palette has been reduced to five options, Carbon Black, Nitro Crimson, Opera Blue, Pure Grey and Pristine White, dropping Gold Essence, Daytona Grey and Flame Red.

Market Position

The Curvv Series X competes directly with the Citroen Basalt X and positions itself as an alternative to conventional compact SUVs including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq and Honda Elevate. Two years after its introduction, the recalibrated lineup now targets the volume-driven lower end of the segment, though analysts note the coupe-SUV format has not translated into the sales success Tata anticipated, particularly after the arrival of the Sierra sibling.
