Kanpur businessman murder solved, son arrested as mastermind for contract killing

Kanpur Police have claimed a major breakthrough in the Vineet Minocha murder case, saying the alleged mastermind behind the killing was the victim’s own son, Suvrat Minocha. According to police, Suvrat allegedly got his father killed by giving a contract and had planned to make the murder look like a natural death.

Police have arrested Suvrat Minocha in connection with the case. During the investigation, police said they recovered CCTV evidence, CDR details, scientific evidence, a duplicate key and blood-stained clothes linked to the crime.

The case relates to the killing of Vineet Minocha on September 5 in the Kalyanpur police station area of Kanpur. Police said the investigation has revealed that Vineet Minocha’s son, also referred to as Shubhrat Minocha in the case details, allegedly planned the murder of his father.

According to police, Shubhrat allegedly gave a contract to Vishal Gautam and Rajkishore to carry out the murder. Police said Vishal Gautam had worked at Vineet Minocha’s medical store from 2010 to 2022. In 2022, he was removed from the job over allegations of theft, after which relations between the two had deteriorated.

During questioning, Vishal told police that the entire conspiracy to kill Vineet Minocha was planned by Suvrat. Police said that, on Suvrat’s instructions, a duplicate key to the house was prepared. The plan, according to police, was that on September 5, after the family members had gone out, the accused would enter the house using the duplicate key and kill Vineet Minocha with the help of a pillow.

Police said the alleged plan after the killing was to present the death as a natural one. Investigators have also claimed that Shubhrat was under heavy debt and had concerns related to property. Police further claimed that he was fond of gambling and alcohol.

According to police, there had also been an earlier plan to kill Vineet Minocha in a road accident, but that plan did not succeed.

In the course of the investigation, police said they found several important clues through CCTV footage, CDR and scientific evidence. Police have recovered the duplicate key of the flat. They have also recovered the blood-stained clothes that Rajkishore was wearing at the time of the incident.

Police said that before the crime, the locations of Shubhrat and Vishal were found to be the same several times. They also said that during the process of getting the duplicate key made, the two had spoken on the phone. After the incident, both allegedly deleted their WhatsApp chats, according to police.

In the initial round of questioning, Vishal had also taken the name of Shalu Minocha. However, police said that during the investigation, no corroborative evidence was found to prove Shalu’s involvement.

Police have claimed that Suvrat had also made a plan to save himself by implicating his wife in the case. On the basis of evidence that emerged during the investigation, police have named Suvrat Minocha as the main accused in the murder conspiracy and arrested him.

Police said further legal action in the case is underway.
