Ballari: The Central government’s Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) is poised to be a transformative initiative aimed at generating employment opportunities, ensuring financial security for young people, and incentivising employers to create new jobs, according to Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-II, Ballari, K.V. Praveen. Speaking at a press conference held at the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) regional office on Wednesday, Mr. Praveen outlined the scheme’s objectives and benefits.

Highlighting its scope, Mr. Praveen stated that PM-VBRY is designed to stimulate employment generation and strengthen the economy by encouraging the recruitment and retention of workers. The programme aims to create 3.5 crore new jobs across India and foster sustained employment among newly recruited workers. Operational from August 1, 2025, until July 31, 2027, the scheme has been allocated ₹1 lakh crore by the Central government for nationwide implementation.

Mr. Praveen explained that private establishments covered under the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), including those in the services and manufacturing sectors, security agencies, and manpower agencies, are eligible to benefit from the scheme. However, the benefits apply exclusively to new entrants to the workforce, not existing employees. To qualify, newly recruited employees must remain with the same organisation for a minimum of six months.

An exclusive online portal has been launched to facilitate the scheme’s implementation, allowing employers to complete one-time registration. Employees do not need to submit separate applications, as the system automatically verifies eligibility once a company links a new employee’s EPF account with Aadhaar. Benefits are then transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.

Discussing financial incentives under PM-VBRY, Mr. Praveen noted that employers will receive government assistance based on the salaries of newly recruited workers. Service-sector establishments will be eligible for incentives for 24 months, while manufacturing units will receive support for 48 months to promote job creation in the sector. Additionally, new employees joining the workforce for the first time and obtaining an EPF account will be eligible for a one-time incentive of up to ₹15,000, payable in two instalments.

In the Ballari region, 1,374 newly recruited workers have already qualified to receive direct financial assistance under the scheme. Furthermore, 248 employer establishments in the region have benefited from incentives provided under the employer component of the programme. Mr. Praveen expressed confidence that PM-VBRY will provide significant financial support to both employers and employees while driving large-scale employment generation in the area.

The press conference was attended by EPFO Enforcement Officer Abdul Hafeez, Supervisor Jadesh, and other officials.
