Mysuru: The regional office of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in Mysuru will organize an outreach programme today as part of the nationwide rollout of the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY). This employment-linked incentive scheme aims to promote formal job creation across the country. The Ministry of Labour and Employment will simultaneously host a national-level PM-VBRY event at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During the New Delhi event, the Prime Minister is expected to disburse incentives totaling approximately ₹2,400 crore to beneficiaries via direct benefit transfer (DBT). Nationwide, an estimated 65,000 to 70,000 participants, including around 9,000 employer representatives and nearly 45,000 employees, are expected to join the events being held simultaneously in over 200 locations. In Mysuru, the regional outreach programme will cover the districts of Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, and Kodagu.
The Mysuru event will take place at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, where notable attendees are expected, including Mysuru MP Yaduveer Wadiyar and Chamaraja MLA K Harishgowda, along with other elected representatives. Regional Provident Fund Commissioner GS Reddy emphasized that while the scheme does not directly provide jobs, it incentivizes businesses to create new employment opportunities through financial support.
According to EPFO data, 3,351 establishments in the Mysuru region are eligible under the PM-VBRY scheme, with nearly 6.48 lakh employees expected to benefit from its provisions.
