Hyderabad Traffic Police Launch Major Crackdown on Fake Number Plates

The Hyderabad Traffic Police have intensified their crackdown on fake, tampered, and unauthorised vehicle registration plates, registering six criminal cases and seizing several vehicles during a special enforcement drive. The move comes in response to a growing number of complaints from citizens regarding such violations.

Over the past week, cases have been filed against motorists accused of using fraudulent registration plates to hide their vehicle identities, evade traffic rules, and flout provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. These cases were booked under the jurisdictions of Jubilee Hills, Malakpet, Begum Bazar, Abids, and Kachiguda police stations. Officials confirmed that multiple vehicles with manipulated number plates were identified and seized during the operation.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis stated that the department has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards such offences. "Motorists found using fake or tampered number plates will face criminal prosecution, along with the seizure of their vehicles," he warned. The police aim to ensure stricter compliance with registration norms and deter any attempts to bypass traffic enforcement mechanisms.

This crackdown highlights the growing concern over the misuse of vehicle registration plates, which not only undermines road safety but also complicates law enforcement efforts. The Hyderabad Traffic Police have urged citizens to report any suspicious vehicles and reiterated their commitment to maintaining order on the city’s roads.
