Hyderabad Bars Allowed Extended Hours for FIFA Club World Cup Matches
Hyderabad bars will stay open late for the FIFA Club World Cup finale, boosting nightlife and accommodating football fans.
Football fans in Hyderabad have reason to celebrate as the Telangana government has extended liquor service hours for the FIFA Club World Cup 2026's final and third-place matches. Licensed establishments across the Telangana Core Urban Region (CURE) will now operate until 4:30 a.m. on the night of July 18-19 for the third-place play-off, and until 3:00 a.m. on July 19-20 for the championship final.
Government Responds to Fan Demand
The decision follows a request from the Telangana Bar and Restaurants Owners Association, which highlighted the need for extended hours to accommodate football enthusiasts expected to gather for the late-night games. Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise C. Hari Kiran issued the order, granting the relaxation to licensed 2B bars, C1 clubs, TD1 and TD2 establishments, and microbreweries across Hyderabad and nearby urban areas.
Strict Compliance Rules in Place
Authorities have emphasized that the extended hours apply solely to operations and do not exempt establishments from adhering to excise laws and licensing conditions. Deputy Commissioners of Prohibition and Excise in Greater Hyderabad, Malkajgiri, and Cyberabad, along with district excise officers in key urban areas such as Secunderabad and Serilingampally, have been tasked with ensuring strict compliance during the extended hours.
Boost for Hyderabad’s Nightlife
The move is expected to energize Hyderabad's nightlife, particularly its sports bars, pubs, and microbreweries, which have increasingly become hubs for fans during major sporting events. With packed venues anticipated, the decision is likely to benefit businesses catering to the city's growing community of football lovers.
This development underscores Hyderabad's evolving status as a hub for global sports culture, aligning with its vibrant urban identity.
