Haryana government introduces fixed timelines for arms licence renewals and FIR copies to enhance public service efficiency.
Arms Licence Renewals in 15 Days, FIR Copies Instantly: Haryana Notifies Timelines
The Haryana government has introduced fixed timelines for 33 services under the home department as part of the Haryana Right to Service Act, 2014. This move aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public service delivery. Citizens can now expect time-bound processing for various permissions, verifications, licences, and certificates.
Among the newly notified timelines, arms licence renewals will be completed within 15 days if applications are submitted within the same district before the licence expires. Police verification for licence renewal, required after the six-year verification cycle, will take no longer than 22 days. Immediate services include the issuance of copies of First Information Reports (FIRs) and Daily Diary Reports (DDRs), which will be provided instantly or through online platforms.
Several other services have been categorized under specific deadlines. For instance, the addition or deletion of weapons in an arms licence, extension of the period for purchasing a weapon, and permissions for protests, rallies, public programmes, and cultural events must be completed within seven days.
Key services under a five-day timeline include the extension of residential permits for foreigners, permission for the use of loudspeakers, issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for fairs, exhibitions, and sports events, stranger verification, and NOCs for old vehicles.
Verification services such as domestic help verification, tenant verification, issuance of character certificates, police clearance certificates, employee verification, and disposal of registered lost property cases will be completed within 21 days. NOCs for commercial establishments like petrol pumps and cinema halls will be issued within 15 days.
For cinema-related services, the granting of a cinema licence will take 30 days, while renewals will be completed within 25 days. Services governed by petroleum and explosives regulations, such as NOCs for importing and storing petroleum, permissions for storing and selling fireworks, renewal of firecracker licences, and NOCs for firecracker shops and warehouses, will be processed within 30 days.
Other services, including verification of private security agencies and disposal of online complaints, will require up to 60 days. Verification processes for cyber café operators, hotel operators and guests, and applicants for the Community Liaison Group (CLG) will be completed within 30 days.
The notification, issued by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, also outlines grievance redressal mechanisms. Citizens can appeal to designated authorities if services are not delivered within the stipulated timelines, ensuring greater accountability.
This initiative underscores the Haryana government’s commitment to streamlining public services and reducing delays, making governance more responsive and citizen-centric.
