DoTE Waives Fees for Horizontal Reservation Students in TNEA Admissions

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) has announced a waiver of fees for students admitted under the horizontal reservation category in Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA). This 7.5% reservation is specifically for students who completed their education from Class VI to Class XII in government schools.

In a press release issued on July 28, DoTE directed engineering college principals across the state not to collect any fees from eligible students falling under this category. Additionally, the department emphasized that admissions must strictly adhere to the prescribed procedures, ensuring transparency and fairness in the process.

The statement also urged institutions to avoid irregularities during admissions and provided a grievance redressal mechanism for students or parents who encounter issues. Complaints can be sent to the official email address, tndote@tndote.com, for resolution.

This move is expected to provide significant relief to economically disadvantaged students who rely on government schools for their education.
