Over 79,000 Candidates Accept Delhi University Round 1 Seat Allocations

The University of Delhi has confirmed that 79,404 candidates accepted their allotted undergraduate seats under the first allocation list of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) by 6 pm on Saturday, the final deadline for Round 1 acceptances. This marks a significant step in admissions for the 2026-27 academic session.

Over 10,000 Complete Admissions Process
Out of the total acceptances, 26,061 applications reached the “Approved for Payment” stage, while 10,746 candidates completed the admission process by paying the requisite fees. The first allocation list, released on Thursday, offered seats to 93,033 candidates across 221 undergraduate programmes in 67 colleges. This allocation exceeded the 71,000 available seats, reflecting the high demand for DU admissions.

High Participation and Allocation Rate
The allocation process involved 2,08,043 candidates who submitted their programme and college preferences in Phase 2 of admissions. Overall, 2,18,284 candidates registered on the CSAS portal, with 93,033 receiving seat allocations in the first round—an allocation rate of 86.1 per cent. Among the allocated seats, 42,019 were given to male applicants and 51,014 to female applicants.

Special Category Allocations
Delhi University also addressed special category admissions, allotting seats to 1,243 single girl child candidates and 242 orphan candidates, including 109 male and 133 female applicants. This reflects the university’s efforts to accommodate diverse applicant groups.

Next Steps in Admissions
Candidates have been advised to opt for the “upgrade” option if they wish to be considered for higher preferences in subsequent rounds. Colleges are continuing to verify applications, and the second allocation list is set to be released on July 25.

Sports Trials Scheduled
Meanwhile, the Delhi University Sports Council has announced the schedule for sports trials under the Sports Supernumerary Quota. Trials will be conducted from July 29 to August 3 across various venues in Delhi, covering disciplines such as archery, badminton, basketball, boxing, cricket, football, hockey, squash, table tennis, and weightlifting. Events for athletics, chess, fencing, kabaddi, shooting, tennis, wrestling, and swimming will follow in subsequent days.

Academic Session to Begin Soon
The new academic session is slated to commence on July 28, with Delhi University gearing up for another year of vibrant student activity and academic pursuit.
