Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Holds Review Meeting for NEET UG Re-Examination Preparations
New Delhi: Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level review meeting on Thursday, June 18, 2026, to assess preparations for the NEET UG re-examination scheduled to take place on June 21. The meeting brought together senior officials from the Ministry of Education, State Governments, the National Testing Agency (NTA), and Higher Education Institutions.
Among the attendees were Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy; Vineet Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Higher Education; and Abhishek Singh, Director General of the NTA. During the meeting, Minister Pradhan stressed the importance of maintaining integrity, transparency, and efficiency in the examination process. He directed all authorities involved to remain vigilant and fully prepared for the re-examination.
The Minister urged officials to implement measures ensuring the free and fair conduct of the re-examination. Highlighting the need for coordination at all levels, he informed attendees that designated officers from the Ministry would be deployed across States to oversee re-examination activities and report to the Command Centre headed by the DG, NTA.
State government nodal officers were instructed to ensure that students appearing for the re-examination were provided with necessary facilities to create a stress-free environment. Sanjay Kumar emphasized the importance of making students feel at ease by offering essential amenities such as seating arrangements before the exam and access to drinking water.
Vineet Joshi underscored the criticality of the days leading up to the re-examination, calling for proactive coordination, timely dissemination of instructions, and strict adherence to prescribed protocols.
Abhishek Singh, DG of NTA, stated that the agency was collaborating with district-level coordination committees, State police departments, and intelligence agencies to ensure smooth conduct of the re-examination. The meeting included discussions on examination preparedness, coordination mechanisms, security protocols, logistical arrangements, grievance redressal mechanisms, and adherence to examination guidelines.
States and Union Territories were advised to maintain close coordination with stakeholders to ensure a seamless, transparent, and efficient re-examination process. A total of 222 participants attended the hybrid-mode meeting, including senior officials from States/UTs, nodal officers of centrally funded institutes, and vice chancellors and directors of higher educational institutions across the country.
Participants assured full cooperation and commitment to implementing necessary measures for a smooth and hassle-free experience for candidates.
