NEET 2026 Re-exam on June 21: Central Railway to Operate All 1,820 Mumbai Local Trains on Sunday

Mumbai: In a significant move to facilitate students appearing for the NEET UG 2026 re-candidates-of-fair-re-exam-and-opens-helpline" class="nd-inline-link">examination, the Central Railway (CR) announced on Thursday that all 1,820 local trains, including 94 AC services, will operate on June 21. The decision ensures uninterrupted train services on Mumbai’s suburban rail network, as no mega block will be implemented on that day.

Dr. Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of CR, stated, "To facilitate students appearing for NEET UG 2026 examination, Central Railway has decided not to operate Mega block on Sunday, 21.06.2026. All 1,820 suburban services will run on Sunday, 21.06.2026, on all lines as per the regular timetable instead of the 1,200 services usually run on Sundays." The move aims to ensure smooth travel for NEET candidates and their parents, allowing them to reach examination centres without inconvenience.

The NEET UG 2026 examination, originally conducted on May 3, was cancelled on May 12 following allegations of a question paper leak. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the matter.

Earlier in the day, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the preparedness for the NEET UG re-examination. The meeting involved senior officials from the Ministry of Education, state governments, the National Testing Agency (NTA), and higher education institutions.
