UK Appoints Harshbir Sangha Karnataka Envoy With South Asia Investment Role

The U.K. has appointed Harshbir Sangha as its new Deputy High Commissioner to Karnataka, with an additional investment-focused role covering South Asia, according to a release.

Dual responsibilities

Mr. Sangha will also serve as the U.K.’s Deputy Trade Commissioner for Investment in South Asia.

In that capacity, his mandate is to further strengthen and promote the UK as a preferred destination for foreign direct investment from India and the wider South Asia region, the release said.

The appointment places him in charge of the U.K.’s engagement in Karnataka.

“In his role, Mr. Sangha will be responsible for all aspects of the U.K.’s engagement in Karnataka,” the release said.

Focus areas in Karnataka

The role includes promoting business and trade links in the state, according to the release.

It also includes strengthening scientific, technological and education cooperation.

The release said he will work with partners to tackle climate change as part of the role.

Before taking up his posting in India, Mr. Sangha was the Deputy Director for Satellite Communications & PNT (Positioning, Navigation & Timing) at the U.K. Space Agency.
