Karnataka PG Fees In Government Colleges To Rise 10% From 2027-28

The revised postgraduate fee structure in Karnataka’s government first-grade colleges will take effect from the academic year 2027-28, after the government issued an order approving a 10% increase for these courses.

New fee structure for select PG courses

Under the order, the fee for MSc courses in Computer Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Information Science has been fixed at ₹8,720, excluding university fees.

The fee for the MCA course has been fixed at ₹11,720 for the academic year 2027-28.

The increase applies to postgraduate courses in government first-grade colleges, as specified in the government order.

MBA fee to remain unchanged

The annual fee of ₹21,000 fixed for the MBA course in the academic year 2025-26 will continue for the academic years 2026-27 and 2027-28.

This means the MBA fee will not change during those two academic years, despite the broader proposal for a 10% increase in various postgraduate course fees.

The Commissioner of the Department had submitted a proposal to the government seeking a 10% increase in fees for various PG courses offered in government first-grade colleges from 2026-27 onwards.

Why the revision was deferred

The fee revision could not be implemented immediately because the admission process for PG courses had already begun in government and aided colleges.

Colleges have been admitting students based on the previous year’s fee structure.

According to department data, 610 students have so far been admitted to 168 postgraduate courses, and the admission process is still under way.

The government has also stated that no additional grants shall be sought for postgraduate courses, including MBA and MCA programmes offered in government first-grade colleges, or for any related activities.
