Pratapgarh Bus Hits Motorcycle, Rider Escapes; Driver Taken Into Custody

A speeding private bus hit a motorcycle rider at Chilbila Chauraha in the Nagar Kotwali area of Pratapgarh on Friday, leaving the rider with a narrow escape while his bike was badly damaged.

The motorcycle rider has been identified as Mulayam Yadav. He was going towards Patti when the private bus, which was travelling from Sultanpur to Prayagraj, reached Chilbila Chauraha and collided with his motorcycle. The impact was strong, but Mulayam Yadav survived the accident narrowly.

After the crash, local people gathered at the spot and stopped the bus along with its driver. According to local residents, the number plate on the front of the bus was covered with an iron angle. It has also come to light that there was no number plate fitted at the rear of the bus.

These details have raised questions over compliance with traffic rules related to vehicle number plates. The condition of the number plates became a point of concern after the accident, especially because the bus was allegedly being driven at high speed when it hit the bike.

Meanwhile, Chilbila police personnel who were patrolling in the area reached the spot. Police took the bus driver and the bus into custody and brought them to Chilbila Chowki.

Police said necessary legal action is being taken in the matter.
