Telangana allocates significant funds for minority community development

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka reaffirmed the State government's commitment to the development of minority communities, highlighting the allocation of substantial funds in the Budget for this purpose. He was speaking at a high-level review meeting on Thursday at the Secretariat in Hyderabad, where he assessed the progress of minority welfare schemes and development initiatives.

The meeting was attended by Minority Welfare Minister Azharuddin and chairpersons of minority corporations. As part of the Urdu Academy’s golden jubilee celebrations, Mr. Vikramarka announced plans to organise large-scale mushairas to showcase Urdu culture. These events will be held not only in Hyderabad but also at all district headquarters. He directed officials to make necessary arrangements for the main event, which is to take place at LB Stadium in Hyderabad.

During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the progress of minority residential schools being constructed across Telangana, describing them as potential benchmarks for the country due to their modern infrastructure. Officials reported that 20 schools have been completed and are ready for inauguration, while 17 others are still under construction. Mr. Vikramarka instructed officials to expedite pending works, establish a fixed timeline, and ensure close monitoring to complete all projects promptly.

He also directed officials to implement legal measures to safeguard Waqf and other minority lands from encroachment. Additionally, he stressed the importance of constructing compound walls around minority burial grounds and asked officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan. District Collectors will be tasked with identifying and allocating land for burial grounds in areas with significant Muslim populations.

Under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme, the government plans to provide financial assistance to minority youth to encourage self-employment and economic independence. A detailed implementation plan for the scheme is to be prepared. Furthermore, the Deputy Chief Minister announced a ₹50 crore allocation for the welfare of Christian minorities, with a focus on supporting youth through self-employment initiatives.

Minority Welfare Minister Azharuddin extended an invitation to Mr. Vikramarka to attend a special programme on the ninth day of the upcoming Moharram celebrations in Hyderabad, to which the Deputy Chief Minister responded positively.
