Telangana’s innovative use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in agriculture has earned global recognition at the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) headquarters in Rome, Italy. Representing the state, Agriculture Commissioner Surendra Mohan delivered the keynote address at the inaugural meeting of the Global Initiative on AI for Agrifood Systems.

Telangana stood out as the only Indian state invited to the prestigious forum, underscoring its leadership in leveraging technology for agricultural advancement. In his address, Mohan highlighted how the state has adopted digital tools and AI-based solutions to boost farm productivity, improve crop management, and enhance agricultural extension services. He also emphasized the role of data-driven decision-making in empowering farmers and transforming the farming sector.

The state’s efforts in integrating AI into agriculture have focused on practical applications, such as precision farming techniques, predictive analytics for weather and pest control, and real-time advisory services for farmers. These initiatives aim to address challenges like fluctuating yields, climate change, and resource optimization, setting a benchmark for other regions.
