PM Modi Addresses NDA MPs, Urges Unity Amid Parliament Disruptions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed concern over repeated disruptions in Parliament, stating that such interruptions were depriving the nation of hearing the voices of talented new MPs. The remarks came during a breakfast meeting with around 45 MPs from National Democratic Alliance (NDA) constituent parties in New Delhi.

Focus on Parliamentary Functioning and Unity

The gathering included MPs from diverse NDA allies, such as the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), Shiv Sena, Republican Party of India (Athawale), Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), AIADMK, and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL). Several prominent leaders were present, including Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, BJP chief Nitin Nabin, and NCPI MPs Khalilur Rahaman, Yusuf Pathan, and Abu Taher Khan.

During the meeting, Modi emphasized the importance of ensuring smooth parliamentary proceedings and urged MPs to contribute effectively to the nation’s development. He also encouraged them to adopt healthy practices such as yoga and regular health check-ups.

Message of Togetherness and Development

NCPI MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar shared that the Prime Minister described all NDA members, whether part of the alliance for decades or just a year, as "family." Modi assured the MPs of his support for constituency development and pledged to work hard for the progress of West Bengal and the northeastern states. "We all will work together," Dastidar quoted him as saying.

Why It Matters

Modi’s remarks come at a time when parliamentary disruptions have drawn criticism for stalling legislative business. His call for unity and smooth functioning highlights the government’s focus on fostering collaboration within the NDA and addressing regional development priorities. The breakfast meeting also served as a platform to strengthen ties with newer allies, such as the NCPI, which recently joined the NDA after breaking away from the Trinamool Congress.
