Amit Shah Calls Modi's Independence Day Speech a Milestone for Viksit Bharat
Amit Shah praises PM Modi's I-Day address as a transformative step towards Viksit Bharat, focusing on self-reliance and youth empowerment.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address as a transformative moment in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation. Shah described the speech, delivered on August 15, 2026, as a roadmap for a "Viksit Bharat" rooted in self-reliance, safety, and prosperity.
Focus on Self-Reliance and Progress
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Shah highlighted the Prime Minister’s emphasis on Swadeshi ideals and the remarkable progress India has achieved over the past 12 years in critical sectors such as semiconductors, critical minerals, energy, and railways. Modi outlined his vision for a self-reliant India, encapsulated in the "Saptadhara" or seven pillars of strength, which Shah said would serve as the foundation for propelling the nation to new heights.
Youth-Centric Initiatives and Ambitious Goals
Shah also drew attention to the Prime Minister’s focus on empowering India’s youth. Modi announced initiatives to provide artificial intelligence (AI) training to over one crore young Indians within a year, the establishment of a free online coaching network, and a talent hunt campaign aimed at preparing athletes for the 2036 Olympics.
Additionally, the Prime Minister set long-term goals, including achieving 100 gigawatts of nuclear power capacity and establishing eight new semiconductor manufacturing units by 2047. Shah described these targets as ambitious yet vital for India’s future.
Historic Moment at Red Fort
In a poignant addition to the day’s events, Shah noted that the iconic rallying cry of India’s freedom struggle, "Vande Mataram," was sung from the Red Fort’s ramparts for the first time since Independence. Reflecting on the moment, he said, “Witnessing this historic moment not only gave me goosebumps but filled my entire being with sheer ecstasy.”
Why This Matters
PM Modi’s Independence Day speech not only celebrated the nation’s achievements but also set a clear vision for the future, focusing on innovation, youth empowerment, and self-reliance. Amit Shah’s remarks underline the government’s commitment to these goals, framing the address as a pivotal moment in India’s pursuit of global leadership.
