Samajwadi Party's Masood Alam Khan slams Shravasti's infrastructure neglect

Masood Alam Khan, National Secretary of the Samajwadi Party, has criticized the lack of basic infrastructure in Shravasti, a district in Uttar Pradesh known for its historical significance as a Buddhist pilgrimage site. Speaking to the media during Independence Day celebrations, Khan emphasized that the region needs essential facilities like bus stations, railway connectivity, industries, hospitals, schools, and reliable roads and electricity before considering projects like an airport.

Participating in flag-hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs at various schools in Shravasti, Khan extended Independence Day greetings to students, teachers, and locals. He also honored top-performing students for their achievements. However, his remarks to the press highlighted the developmental challenges faced by the district, which he described as one of the most backward in Uttar Pradesh despite its global recognition as a Buddhist heritage site.

Khan criticized the BJP government and the current MLA for failing to address Shravasti's developmental needs. He pointed out that the lack of basic amenities forces local youth to migrate to other regions for education and employment. "Development cannot be achieved through grand announcements alone," he said. "Real progress comes from providing people with essential services like roads, education, healthcare, jobs, and transportation."

The Samajwadi Party leader also expressed confidence that Shravasti's voters would prioritize development in the 2027 assembly elections. He predicted that the BJP would be ousted from power, paving the way for a government led by Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav.

The issue of an airport in Shravasti has also sparked debate, with claims of poor visibility affecting operations. As election season approaches, political rhetoric around development in the region is heating up. Khan's comments underscore the growing demand for tangible improvements in infrastructure over symbolic projects.
