Mizoram achieves over 95% digitisation of voter enumeration forms

Aizawl: Mizoram has achieved significant progress in the digitisation of enumeration forms, with 95.53% of forms digitised as of Thursday during the third phase of the Special Summary Revision (SIR). This marks a major milestone in the ongoing electoral process in the state.

Out of Mizoram's total electorate of 8,75,068, the enumeration forms of 8,35,954 voters have been digitised so far. Three districts—Champhai, Khawzawl, and Serchhip—have successfully completed 100% digitisation. Champhai, which borders Myanmar, includes three assembly constituencies, while Khawzawl and Serchhip have one and three assembly seats, respectively.

In South Mizoram, Siaha district has achieved a digitisation rate of 99.92%, while Saitual district, bordering Manipur, has reached 99.76%. Officials from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office noted that Mizoram leads in digitisation efforts, with neighbouring Manipur following at 67.35%.

The SIR process, launched on May 30, involves the distribution, collection, and digitisation of enumeration forms. According to the Election Commission of India's (ECI) deadline, these activities are to be completed by June 28. However, officials are optimistic that Mizoram will complete the process ahead of schedule, thanks to the dedicated efforts of 1,301 Block Level Officers (BLOs) involved in the initiative.

Mizoram's electorate has grown significantly over the years, from 5,59,123 voters during the 2005 SIR to 8,75,068 in 2025. The current electorate comprises 4,23,397 male voters and 4,51,671 female voters.
