Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express to Double Coach Capacity to 16

The Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express will soon double its coach capacity from eight to 16, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced in the Lok Sabha. Responding to a request from Congress MP Hibi Eden, Vaishnaw confirmed the move, which aims to address the growing demand for seats on the popular route. Eden had initially urged the government to increase the train’s capacity to 20 coaches, highlighting the pressing need for more options for commuters.

In addition to expanding the existing train, Eden has also called for the introduction of a second Vande Bharat service on the same corridor during nighttime hours. He pointed out the overwhelming demand from passengers traveling between Ernakulam and Bengaluru, emphasizing the need for improved connectivity and convenience on the route. The Railway Ministry is yet to respond to this specific proposal.

The Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express has been a significant success since its launch, offering faster travel times and enhanced passenger amenities. Its popularity has led to calls for increased capacity and additional services to accommodate the rising number of travelers.
