Bhogapuram Airport and Reliance Data Centre to Create 500,000 Jobs

The Bhogapuram International Airport and other major infrastructure projects, including the proposed Reliance Data Centre, are set to generate approximately five lakh jobs in north Andhra Pradesh, according to Minister for MSME and NRI Affairs Kondapalli Srinivas. Speaking during a rally on Saturday, the Minister highlighted the transformative potential of these initiatives for the region.

Rally Highlights Airport Construction and Future Prospects

Mr. Srinivas, accompanied by District Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy and other officials, led a 20-km rally from Vizianagaram to Bhogapuram to draw public attention to the airport's construction. The rally culminated at the airport site, where the Minister unveiled the ‘Our Airport, Our Future’ poster and urged residents to embrace the development as a step forward for the region.

The Bhogapuram International Airport is scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 1. Elaborate arrangements have been made for the event, including a traditional Dhimsa dance performance by 13,000 youngsters to welcome the Prime Minister, who is expected to arrive at 10:15 a.m.

A Fulfilled Promise Ahead of 2024 Elections

The airport project, completed within two years under the Chandrababu Naidu-led government, fulfills a promise made during the run-up to the 2024 general elections. Minister Srinivas noted that the Prime Minister had expressed satisfaction over the completion of the airport, describing it as a significant achievement in one of India’s long-neglected regions.

Local leaders, including Vizianagaram MP Kalisetti Appala Naidu and Cheepurupalli MLA Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao, credited Chandrababu Naidu’s administration for consistently prioritizing development in north Andhra. They contrasted this with the previous YSR Congress Party government, which they alleged had failed to deliver meaningful progress for the area.

Improved Connectivity and Regional Development

Nellimarla MLA Lokam Naga Madhavi revealed that several new roads are being planned to enhance connectivity between Vizianagaram and the airport, ensuring seamless access to the facility. These infrastructure upgrades are expected to further boost economic activity in the region.

The Bhogapuram International Airport, along with projects like the Reliance Data Centre, is poised to transform north Andhra Pradesh into a hub of employment and development, addressing long-standing regional disparities.
