Bhogapuram Airport Inauguration Celebrated as Transformative Moment for Uttarandhra

Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu has hailed the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram as a transformative moment for Uttarandhra. Speaking at the ceremony on Saturday, he described the event as a celebration for every household in Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing its significance beyond just a government programme.

A Landmark Event with High-Profile Attendance

The inauguration, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and other dignitaries, drew unprecedented public participation. Mr. Rammohan Naidu noted that none of the 16 aviation-related projects he had inaugurated alongside the Prime Minister had seen such enthusiasm. As a native of Uttarandhra, he said the occasion held special meaning for him.

Project’s Journey to Completion

Reflecting on the airport’s journey, Mr. Rammohan Naidu credited former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for initiating the Bhogapuram airport project during his earlier tenure. He also acknowledged the contributions of then Union Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju in advancing the initiative. The Minister highlighted the role of Prime Minister Modi in bringing the project to fruition, calling it a remarkable coincidence that the airport was inaugurated during the NDA government, with him serving as Civil Aviation Minister.

Boost to Economy, Connectivity, and Employment

The new international airport is expected to unlock significant opportunities for the region, including investment, tourism, trade, industry, and employment. Mr. Rammohan Naidu revealed plans to establish aviation workforce training facilities to equip local youth with skills for the fast-growing sector. He expressed confidence that the airport would place Uttarandhra prominently on the global map.

A Catalyst for Regional Development

The Minister also highlighted the airport’s potential to enhance connectivity to religious destinations and boost tourism. He pointed out that ongoing projects like the Google data centre, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AM/NS) project, and the South Coast Railway Zone would collectively position Uttarandhra as a major economic hub.
