Amit Shah reviews security for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting in New Delhi on June 12, 2026, to assess preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Scheduled from July 3 to August 28, 2026, the pilgrimage is expected to draw thousands of devotees to the sacred site in Jammu & Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and senior representatives from the Army, CAPFs, Intelligence Bureau, and Jammu & Kashmir Police. Shah emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring a safe and smooth pilgrimage under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

To bolster security, Shah directed the establishment of a multi-layered security grid along the Yatra route, integrating modern technologies such as drones, CCTV surveillance, and advanced monitoring systems. Senior officers from CAPFs and J&K Police will remain stationed at camp sites to oversee arrangements.

The Home Minister also stressed the importance of essential services, including pilgrim registration, accommodation, healthcare, and disaster management. QR code-enabled identity cards will be issued to local persons and animals associated with the Yatra, ensuring streamlined operations.

Additionally, Shah instructed that pilgrim movement be regulated based on weather forecasts to prioritize safety. Security measures will extend to major tourist destinations, enabling pilgrims to enjoy tourism activities without inconvenience.
