Vizag Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore calls for a detailed action plan for the Bay City project, focusing on land use, tourism, and infrastructure developm
Visakhapatnam District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore has instructed officials to draft a comprehensive action plan for the ambitious Bay City project, which is part of the Visakha Economic Region. The plan will focus on land use, infrastructure, tourism, investment, and strategic development corridors. The directive was issued during a review meeting held at the Collectorate on Friday.
Mapping Land and Development Opportunities
The Collector emphasized the need for a detailed database of government and private lands within the proposed project area. He directed the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) and Revenue Department to document specifics such as land extent, ownership, current usage, development potential, and suitability for future projects. This database will serve as the foundation for planning various land classifications, including residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, tourism, recreational, and infrastructure purposes.
Additionally, officials were tasked with conducting a study on land availability for both short-term and long-term projects. Areas with potential for future development need to be identified, along with a connectivity plan to integrate Bay City with the broader Visakha Economic Region.
Focus on Tourism and Character Zones
The Collector also highlighted the importance of tourism in the project. He urged officials to explore the potential of Kailasagiri as a hub for wellness, recreation, and adventure tourism. Furthermore, he called for identifying "character zones" based on their development potential, which will help streamline planning for different types of projects across the region.
Key Officials Present at the Review
The meeting was attended by VMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Tej Bharat, Joint Collector Gobbilla Vidyadhari, Bheemunipatnam RDO Sangeet Madhur, Estate Officer Dayanidhi, and other senior officials. Their collaboration is expected to accelerate the groundwork for the Bay City initiative.
Why This Matters
The Bay City project is a significant component of the Visakha Economic Region, envisioned to boost Visakhapatnam's economic and tourism profile. By focusing on strategic planning and infrastructure development, the initiative aims to attract investment and enhance the city's connectivity and livability. The Collector's directives signal a push for meticulous groundwork to ensure the project's long-term success.
