UP ATS Arrests Two Suspected Terrorists Planning Sleeper Cells

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested two individuals suspected of involvement in anti-national activities. Identified as Mohammad Umar and Faizan, the two hail from Akbarpur village in the Kotwali Dehat area of western Uttar Pradesh. Mohammad Umar is the son of Zulfiqar, while Faizan is the son of Shamimuddin. Their arrest follows a prolonged investigation, during which ATS received intelligence on their suspicious activities. Using technical surveillance and solid evidence, the team conducted a raid and apprehended the suspects.

Initial investigations suggest that the duo was connected to a terror network operating out of Pakistan. ATS claims they were working to establish a secret terror unit in western Uttar Pradesh. Their activities reportedly included reconnaissance of sensitive locations to plan potential attacks.

The suspects were allegedly linked to Pakistani terrorist Shahzad Bhatti and his handler Abid Jatt. According to ATS, they were receiving instructions from across the border and were focused on strengthening local terror networks. The agency is interrogating the suspects to uncover details about their contacts and directives from Pakistan, as well as to determine whether they were preparing for a major attack.

This arrest is part of a broader campaign against the terror network associated with Shahzad Bhatti and Abid Jatt. So far, ATS has registered five cases and arrested 15 individuals linked to this network. Mohammad Umar and Faizan’s apprehension marks another step in dismantling the system.

ATS Additional Director General Amitabh Yash has confirmed the arrests and emphasized the ongoing investigation to trace the roots of this terror network.
