Two Killed in Kamjong, Manipur; Homes Set Ablaze Amid Rising Tensions

In the early hours of Thursday, suspected militants attacked Khamjong district's Khamtuh Kuki village in Manipur, killing two individuals and setting multiple homes ablaze. According to police reports, the attack occurred around 4:55 AM, leading to heightened tensions in the area. Security forces have been deployed in large numbers, and a search operation is underway to locate the perpetrators.

This incident follows the discovery of six bodies in Kangpokpi district on Wednesday. These bodies are believed to be of individuals abducted on May 13 from Leilon Vaiphei village. However, authorities have not yet confirmed their identities. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been tasked with investigating the case.

The six bodies were transported to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal on Thursday morning. The arrival of the bodies led to a gathering of relatives, Naga community leaders, and locals at the hospital premises. Security forces had to use tear gas to control the crowd.

In a related development, protesters in Senapati district set fire to an office of the Naga People's Front (NPF) and targeted several trucks. The United Naga Council (UNC) has called for a 24-hour shutdown in Naga-dominated areas.
