The Telangana government is examining complaints over the charges for a common mobility card covering Hyderabad Metro Rail and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) services, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said on Monday (October 12, 2026).

The minister said feedback and the field-level situation were being examined after the government received multiple complaints from people.

The common mobility card was launched on October 2, 2026, for travel on Hyderabad Metro Rail and TGSRTC buses.

Pass costs and criticism

The monthly pass costs ₹8,500, comprising Hyderabad Metro Rail’s share of ₹7,000 and TGSRTC’s share of ₹1,500.

The daily pass costs ₹400, including ₹300 for Hyderabad Metro Rail and Rs. 100 for TGSRTC.

Soon after the launch, people and activists described the charges as steep and unrealistic.

Critics also said the pass does not cover the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS).

They further pointed to the absence of last-mile connectivity provided by shared autos, shuttle services and other feeder modes.

The criticism has placed the pricing of the newly launched card under review, with the government considering whether the current charges reflect the concerns raised by users and activists.

Meeting with officials planned

Prabhakar said the government did not intend to burden people with excess charges.

He said a meeting would be held with senior officials before a decision is taken.

The minister also said people’s opinions would be taken into consideration while arriving at a decision.

The reconsideration will therefore cover both the charges and the feedback received after the common mobility card was introduced for Metro Rail and TGSRTC travel.
