Six Teams Battle for Glory as Sher-E-Punjab T20 League Begins at Mohali Stadium

The Punjab Cricket Association will kick off its Sher-E-Punjab T20 League 2026 on August 30, bringing together top state cricketers including Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Arshdeep Singh for a 27-match competition at the I.S. Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

Sony LIV will stream all matches live, while Sony Sports Ten 5 HD and Sony Sports Ten 5 SD channels will provide television coverage of the tournament, which runs through September 13.

Opening Fixtures Set the Stage

The competition opens with Amritsar Soormas facing Mohali Kings in the tournament's first clash. On August 31, Jalandhar Warriors will meet Fazilka Falcons in the afternoon before Mohali Kings return to take on Bathinda Royals in the evening session. Ludhiana Lions enter the fray on September 1 with an afternoon match against Bathinda Royals.

Tournament Structure and Path to Finals

The six teams have been split into Group A and Group B, with each franchise competing for a place in the knockout stage. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, making every group-stage encounter crucial for qualification.

Both semi-finals will take place on September 12, with the afternoon fixture pitting Group A's table-topper against Group B's runner-up. The second semi-final in the evening will feature the Group B leader against Group A's second-placed side.

Star-Studded Squads

Fazilka Falcons will be led by India opener Shubman Gill, with his squad including Vihaan Malhotra, Sanvir Singh, Prerit Dutta and 16 other players. Abhishek Sharma headlines the Amritsar Soormas roster, joined by Mayank Markande, Naman Dhir and Rahul Kumar among others.

India pacer Arshdeep Singh captains Ludhiana Lions, whose squad features Krish Bhagat, Salil Arora and Jass Inder. Prabhsimran Singh leads Jalandhar Warriors, while Ramandeep Singh and Anmolpreet Singh are key names for Mohali Kings. Bathinda Royals boast Gurnoor Brar, Harnoor Singh and Uday Saharan in their lineup.

Championship Showdown

The tournament culminates on September 13 with the grand finale, where the two semi-final winners will compete for the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League trophy. The league provides a platform for Punjab's leading cricketers while offering emerging young players an opportunity to showcase their talent.
