The Sensex and Nifty moved higher in early trade on Wednesday (September 30, 2026), recovering after two straight sessions of losses as crude oil pressures eased and investors bought blue-chip IT stocks.

Crude oil and global cues in focus

“Indian equities are likely to find some relief at the open as a sharp pullback in crude oil prices eases one of the key pressures that has weighed on domestic markets in recent sessions,” Ponmudi R., CEO of Enrich Money, an online trading and wealth-tech firm, said.
He added that the moderation in oil prices came against a backdrop of continued uncertainty over the U.S.-Iran conflict and the outlook for regional energy supplies.
The crude oil movement mattered for domestic equities because Ponmudi R. identified oil prices as one of the key pressures on Indian markets in recent sessions.
In Asian markets, South Korea's KOSPI and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index traded lower.
Shanghai's SSE Composite index and Japan's Nikkei 225 index quoted marginally higher.
U.S. markets ended lower on Tuesday (September 29, 2026).
FIIs sold equities on Tuesday
Foreign Institutional Investors offloaded equities worth ₹9,980.22 crore on Tuesday (September 29, 2026), according to exchange data.
That selling came on the same date the Sensex and Nifty ended lower, before the early-trade rebound on Wednesday (September 30, 2026).
