A review meeting on development works was held at the Bahjoi Collectorate auditorium under the direction of District Magistrate Ankit Khandelwal. The meeting focused on the progress of civic works and the functioning of all municipalities and Nagar Panchayats in the district.

The meeting was chaired by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Satyapriya Singh. A detailed review was conducted of the work being carried out by all the Nagar Palikas and Nagar Panchayats in the district.

The ADM gave clear instructions that cleanliness, drainage and drain construction in urban areas must be kept on priority. He said that the cleaning of all drains should be completed before the rains so that problems related to waterlogging can be prevented.

He also directed the officers to ensure that garbage heaps do not accumulate anywhere in the cities. Regular monitoring of cleanliness arrangements will be carried out, the meeting was told.

The facilities available at the district’s gaushalas were also reviewed. ADM Satyapriya Singh directed the officials to ensure basic facilities for the destitute cattle kept in all gaushalas.

He said that proper arrangements for fodder, water, sheds and medical care must be available in the gaushalas. The ADM further directed that if any shortcoming is found during an inspection, it should be removed immediately.

The issue of growing encroachment in urban areas also came up for discussion. The ADM adopted a strict approach and directed that action to remove encroachments must be carried out in a completely fair and impartial manner.

He said that no poor person should be harassed unnecessarily. At the same time, he made it clear that encroachment on government land and roads would not be tolerated. The directions also included bulldozer action against encroachments, as stated in the meeting’s focus on the issue.

Along with this, the ADM directed officials to improve arrangements at cremation sites. He also asked them to speed up all pending development works being carried out in the district.

The officers were warned that any kind of negligence in works related to public interest would not be tolerated. The review meeting was held to assess the progress of development and civic works and to give directions on cleanliness, drainage, gaushala facilities, encroachment removal, cremation sites and pending projects.
