NHAI Splits Amaravati Outer Ring Road Into Four Packages Worth ₹11,537 Crore
NHAI has invited bids for a 195.23-km, six-lane Amaravati Outer Ring Road divided into four HAM packages costing Rs 11,537.70 crore.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has divided the proposed Amaravati Outer Ring Road into four bidding packages, with the combined estimated project cost set at ₹11,537.70 crore.
The six-lane, access-controlled road is being taken up entirely under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), and the tenders were floated on October 2.
The project is intended to create an alternative high-capacity road around the Amaravati region.
Four packages cover 195.23 km
Package 1 covers the 27.93-km Kanchikacherla-Nandigama section and has an estimated project cost of ₹2,975.47 crore.
It will form one of the western portions of the proposed ring road, connecting the Nandigama side with Kanchikacherla.
Package 2, estimated at ₹2,864.69 crore, covers 56 km from Nandigama to Davuluru.
It is the longest individual package and will cover the central stretch between the two locations.
The section is expected to provide an important link for traffic moving around the capital region rather than through built-up areas.
Package 3 extends from Kolavennu to Kornepadu and covers 55.80 km, with an estimated cost of ₹2,827.95 crore.
It also includes a 5.3-km spur to Narakoduru, which is intended to provide an additional connection to the ORR network.
Package 4 covers the 55.50-km Kornepadu-Kanchikacherla section and has an estimated cost of ₹2,869.59 crore.
It will complete the remaining major section and link the eastern and western portions of the proposed route.
Together, the four packages account for 195.23 km, including the Narakoduru spur.
Construction schedule and Cabinet approval
Each package has a stipulated construction period of 1,095 days, or three years.
Bids are to be submitted by 11 a.m. on November 18, and they will be opened on November 19.
The tenders have been invited to avoid procedural delays, although the project still requires approval from the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Union Minister of State for Rural Development Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said the project was under active consideration and would be placed before the Cabinet shortly, once the Finance Department gave its approval.
For ordinary commuters and freight operators, the proposed ORR is expected to offer an alternative route around the Amaravati-Vijayawada-Guntur region.
It could reduce dependence on existing urban roads and improve movement between major settlements and economic centres.
