Migration from Uttarandhra Will End, Says Naidu at ASR Airport Inauguration

Bhogapuram Airport to Transform Region
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu declared that the newly inaugurated ASR International Airport at Bhogapuram would mark a turning point for Uttarandhra, bringing economic opportunities that would eliminate migration from the region. “There will no longer be colonies of people from Srikakulam in other places in search of jobs. Instead, people from elsewhere will come here for employment,” he said on Saturday while addressing a large public gathering.

The Chief Minister urged local youth to seize the opportunities created by the airport and contribute to the development of the region. “I urge the youth to utilise these opportunities, change their lives, and work for society and the development of the region,” he added.

Farmers’ Contribution Lauded
Expressing gratitude to the farmers who contributed land for the project, Mr. Naidu said, “First of all, I bow to all the farmers. You did not just give land, you gave Uttarandhra a golden future.”

A Long Journey to Completion
Recalling the airport’s journey, Mr. Naidu noted that the foundation stone was laid in 2015 and the project had faced several hurdles before being completed under the NDA government. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre for their support in overcoming challenges.

Boost to Industrial Growth
The Chief Minister highlighted the airport’s potential to accelerate industrial and economic development. He pointed to major investments already made in the region, including Google and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel, and hinted at more to come.

Centre’s Role in State Development
Mr. Naidu praised the NDA government for its role in advancing key projects in Andhra Pradesh. He credited the Centre with protecting the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, funding the Polavaram Irrigation Project, and supporting the construction of Amaravati.

He announced that the Polavaram Project would be completed by 2027 and Amaravati’s first phase by 2028, with both milestones to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi. Additionally, he highlighted ₹6.13 lakh crore in investments secured for the state, expected to generate 5.5 lakh jobs.

Irrigation Projects on the Horizon
The Chief Minister also unveiled plans for eight irrigation projects worth ₹2,784 crore to be completed within three years. He announced that the long-pending Neradi Barrage had received approval and promised that Godavari river water would reach Anakapalli by August 14. Plans for the Godavari-Vamsadhara river interlinking project were also revealed.

The ASR International Airport is being seen as a cornerstone of Uttarandhra’s transformation, with promises of jobs, industrial growth, and improved infrastructure.
