Speaking at the event, Mr. Rao expressed pride and emotion, highlighting the airport’s potential to drive economic growth in Vizianagaram. Drawing parallels with the Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad, he stated, “The Bhogapuram airport will help spur economic activity in the region.” The project holds special significance for Mr. Rao, who hails from Rajam in the same district.

The airport’s early completion underscores the GMR Group’s expertise in aviation infrastructure, with the company already managing major airports in New Delhi and Hyderabad.
