Man killed by car during broad daylight machete brawl in Shah Alam

A man died after being struck by a car during a machete brawl that erupted in broad daylight in Shah Alam on Tuesday afternoon, prompting Malaysian police to open a murder investigation.

Surveillance cameras captured the violence unfolding around 2pm in the Taman Alam Megah neighbourhood, where several men were seen slashing at one another with weapons before a blue Perodua Alza rammed one of the fighters, killing him at the scene. Dashcam footage of the incident has since circulated online, reigniting public concern over gang-related street violence.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah confirmed that CCTV footage showed the group fighting before the confrontation turned deadly. "A blue Perodua Alza was also seen hitting one of the suspects, who died at the scene," he said in a statement released Tuesday.

Authorities have arrested one local man in connection with the case but have not yet identified the victim, describing him only as one of the individuals believed to have participated in the fight. Police have also not disclosed a motive for the brawl or confirmed whether the incident is linked to organised gangs.

The midday violence in a residential area has amplified fears about the resurgence of gang activity in Malaysia, particularly as the attack was captured on camera and shared widely on social media.
