Viral video shows bus operator brutally beating passenger over denied seat at Hamirpur stand

A video showing the violent behavior of private bus operators at the main bus stand in Hamirpur has gone viral on social media, sparking public outrage over the lawlessness prevailing at the crucial transport hub.

The incident involved the operator of New Shatabdi Travels and his associates, who allegedly verbally abused and severely beat up a passenger in the middle of the road. The assault continued in full public view as the goons of New Shatabdi Travels kept thrashing the passenger on the street while onlookers remained mere spectators, watching the brutality unfold without intervention.

The dispute erupted after the passenger was denied a seat on the bus despite having already purchased a ticket, received the ticket money receipt, and completed the payment formalities. When the passenger did not get the seat he had paid for, an argument broke out in the middle of the road over the unavailability of seating.

The private operators have allegedly been running double-decker buses through illegal stand-stops on Bus Stand Road, operating their services through intimidation and strong-arm tactics. Upon receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter.

The case pertains to the Bus Stand Road area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Sadar Kotwali police station.
