Amethi students beat classmate, post attack video on social media

A group of school students in Amethi district launched a brazen assault on a classmate and then issued an open challenge to police by themselves uploading the attack video on social media.

The attackers, described as emboldened students, lay in ambush for their classmate who was returning home from school. They beat him severely along with their accomplices in a coordinated assault.

The assailants filmed themselves thrashing the student and then deliberately circulated the video on social media platforms, in what authorities are treating as a direct challenge to law enforcement.

The incident took place in Balabhadarpur village under the jurisdiction of Jamon police station in the district.

After the video went viral on social media, the victim's family members approached the police and lodged a formal complaint regarding the attack on the student.

Police have registered the complaint filed by the victim's relatives and launched an investigation into the assault. Officers are now examining the viral video and conducting inquiries to identify all the students involved in the attack and the subsequent provocative act of uploading the footage.
