College student assaulted with belt in Pratapgarh, video goes viral online

A video showing several young men stopping an Inter college student on the road and assaulting him with a belt in the Kandhai area of Pratapgarh has gone viral on internet media. According to information, the student Sumit Vishwakarma was returning home on a bicycle with his friends after college got over. It is alleged that near Naziyapur village ahead of the Sai river bridge in Dilippur police station area, some young men stopped him on the road. After that, hurling abuses, the young men started beating him with a belt. The student is reported to have been injured in the assault.

It is alleged that the young men also made a video of the assault and later made it viral on internet media as a reel. The video is now spreading rapidly. It is being reported that the young men who carried out the assault are residents of Yahiyapur village.

After the video went viral, police have taken cognizance of the matter and started an investigation. Police are investigating the authenticity of the video, the young men involved in the incident and the reasons behind the assault. The Dilippur police station is examining all aspects of the case to identify the accused and determine what led to the incident.
