The Kudumbashree Mission in Kollam is gearing up to deliver a record-breaking Onam feast this year, deploying 83 Café Kudumbashree units equipped with enhanced logistics and stricter quality controls. The initiative, which begins distribution on August 17, seeks to provide authentic Onasadya meals while boosting revenue and creating sustainable market opportunities for women-led catering ventures.

Building on Last Year’s Success

In 2025, Kollam led Kerala in Onasadya sales, fulfilling 22,278 orders through 65 Café units and generating ₹44.50 lakh in revenue. This year, the District Mission has expanded its network and streamlined operations to meet even higher demand. Officials have introduced improved delivery mechanisms and stricter food quality guidelines to ensure customer satisfaction.

Tiered Pricing and Green Protocol

The Onasadya offerings for 2026 feature a tiered pricing structure based on the meal spread. An 18-item meal is priced at ₹170, a 21-item meal at ₹200, and a 24-item feast at ₹230. During peak festive days—Uthradam, Thiruvonam, Avittom, and Chathayam—the prices will rise to ₹200, ₹230, and ₹250, respectively. All meals will adhere to Kerala’s Green Protocol, with eco-friendly packaging and strict hygiene standards.

Customer-Centric Delivery Model

Orders, which require a minimum of 10 meals, will include free doorstep delivery within a five-kilometer radius. Exceptions to the minimum order limit will be made for senior citizens and bedridden individuals on compassionate grounds. Bookings can be placed through a dedicated call center until August 22.

Aiming for Long-Term Impact

The Kudumbashree Mission’s Onasadya initiative is more than a festive offering; it is a strategic effort to establish a sustainable market link for its women-led catering units. “By elevating customer trust and expanding its footprint, the District Mission aims to turn the annual Onasadya initiative into a permanent, sustainable market link for its catering units,” officials stated.

With expanded infrastructure and a larger network of cafés, Kollam’s Kudumbashree Mission is poised to set a new benchmark this Onam.
