Karo Sambhav Raises Rs 56 Crore from Rainmatter by Zerodha; Aims to Scale Up Critical Mineral Recovery
Karo Sambhav, a circular economy enterprise focused on e-waste management, has secured Rs 56 crore in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Rainmatter by Zerodha. The company plans to utilize the fresh capital to enhance its infrastructure for recovering valuable, precious, and critical materials from discarded electronics and related waste streams.
Established in 2017, Karo Sambhav has spent the past nine years developing e-waste collection and recycling networks across India. Funded through internal resources until this funding round, the company currently operates two recycling plants, has established collection networks in over 50 cities, and has processed more than 150,000 metric tonnes of waste.
The enterprise has been recognized for its contributions to advancing India's circular economy. Notably, it received the Social Entrepreneur of the Year India 2021 award from the Schwab Foundation of the World Economic Forum.
Critical materials such as gold, silver, copper, lithium, tin, indium, and platinum group metals are increasingly vital due to their extensive applications in electric vehicles, renewable energy equipment, defence systems, aerospace, and consumer electronics. Karo Sambhav’s efforts aim to address the growing demand for these strategically important resources.
