No More Personal Interviews at GPSC: Commission Adopts Group Discussions Amid Member Shortage

The Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has revised its interview process, replacing personal interviews with group discussions due to a significant shortage of commission members. According to a report by local Gujarati media, five out of the seven sanctioned member posts in the commission are currently vacant, leaving only two members to manage its operations.

As a result, candidates participating in recruitment processes may now undergo a common interview format instead of the traditional one-on-one interviews. This shift has raised concerns among some aspirants, who have questioned the decision and expressed doubts about the fairness and effectiveness of the new format.

Critics argue that the change could impact the evaluation process, potentially altering how candidates are assessed. Despite these challenges, recruitment examinations are continuing as scheduled. However, the shortage of members has triggered broader concerns about the smooth execution of interviews and other stages of the selection process.

The state government has assured that it will not leave the vacant posts unfilled and has stated that appointments to these positions will be made. This development comes at a critical time, with several recruitment processes underway, affecting thousands of aspirants seeking government jobs in Gujarat.
