Job aspirants protest outside UP Deputy CM's residence over delayed typing exam

Hundreds of candidates seeking junior assistant typist posts gathered outside Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak's official residence on Wednesday, demanding that the state recruitment commission complete a long-stalled selection process for 3,284 vacancies.

The job aspirants, holding placards, accused the state government of neglecting their grievances and delaying the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) recruitment drive. Their central demand: an immediate typing examination that has been pending despite earlier assurances.

Deputy CM orders prompt action

Following the demonstration, Pathak met the protesters and said he had instructed officials to resolve the issue immediately. "I met the candidates and spoke to the UPSSSC Chairman. I have instructed that their issues be resolved immediately. Our government stands firmly with students and the youth. We are working on meeting their demands," he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister told reporters he had directed the UPSSSC Chairman to ensure the typing examination is held promptly in accordance with the students' demands.

Aspirants reject December timeline

Protesting candidate Abhinav Mishra said applicants have been waiting for the typing test for a long time. "We met the Deputy Chief Minister regarding the delay in the recruitment drive. The typing test has not taken place yet. Now, they are suggesting to hold it in December. We want the test to be held as soon as possible. However, the commission keeps giving us false assurances," he said.

Mishra said that despite Pathak facilitating a discussion, UPSSSC officials only said the matter would be considered and that they are deliberating on it. "We want them to issue an official notice confirming that the typing test for the 3,284 vacant posts will take place in October. It is already significantly delayed," he added.

Congress backs protesters

The Opposition Congress extended support to the aspirants' demands and alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state has "failed" in providing employment to the youth. "The government made tall promises about employment generation, but it has completely failed. Aspirants were forced to reach the Deputy CM's residence for regular and time-bound recruitment. The recruitment calendar is not being followed," Congress national secretary Shahnawaz Alam said.

Alam said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was in Prayagraj holding a dialogue with the youth, and pledged support for the aspirants "in every way possible".
