Firozabad's "Eat Right" initiative certifies seven institutions for food safety

The "Eat Right" initiative in Firozabad is gaining momentum under the leadership of District Magistrate Santosh Kumar Sharma and Assistant Commissioner (Food) Chandan Pandey. As part of this campaign, efforts are being made to certify hospitals, schools, universities, district jails, and religious sites as "Eat Right Campuses" and "Eat Right Places of Worship." The initiative aims to ensure clean, safe, and nutritious food for all.

Seven institutions in Firozabad have already received the "Eat Right Campus" certification, including FS University, FH Medical College, and the Trauma Centre. In February 2026, FS University in Shikohabad and Sewarth Institute Trauma Centre were added to the list. The campaign focuses on improving food safety standards in school kitchens, hostel messes, hospital canteens, and jail kitchens, emphasizing hygiene, proper storage, and safe food preparation practices.

Special attention is being given to schools like Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kasturba Gandhi Residential School, and Ashram-style schools. Currently, 15 schools are undergoing certification processes to become "Eat Right Schools." Hospitals, such as FH Medical College and Sewarth Trauma Centre, are setting examples by providing patients and caregivers with safe and nutritious meals tailored to medical conditions.

The district jail is also being developed as an "Eat Right Campus," with a focus on kitchen cleanliness, food quality, and safe preparation processes. Additionally, the campaign is expanding to religious sites, including temples, mosques, and gurudwaras, where food hygiene and safety during community meals will be prioritized.

The Food Safety Department aims to connect as many public institutions as possible to the "Eat Right" initiative. By promoting food safety, hygiene, and healthy eating habits, this campaign seeks to ensure that every individual has access to safe and nutritious food. The expansion of the initiative in Firozabad highlights its potential to spread awareness about healthy eating practices across the community.
